You Will Never Believe These Bizarre Truths Behind Content Marketing
The first thing I wish everyone understood about content marketing is that it's not as hard as they think. Don't get me wrong, there is a learning curve when it comes to using this marketing channel. And you should expect to make mistakes along the way. But the important thing to remember is that even if you make a mistake now and again, over time you will correct that mistake without much effort.
You see, there is some misinformation out there regarding the nature of marketing and sales. Most people believe that all you need to do is come up with some really catchy phrases and then tell people about them. Well, that's just not the case. Your website content must be relevant to your business. It can't be just another sales pitch.
So, what I wish people knew about content marketing? First of all, you have to learn how to choose the right words. Choose words that match your business goals. That sounds easier said than done? Don't worry, there's help available for you.
Use the services of a professional SEO consultant. These guys know the ins and outs of the search engines. They can show you which ones work and which ones don't. They can also tell you why certain words are being ranked lower than others, so that you can avoid those as well.
Know the ranking system. Most companies rank according to their page rank. A higher page rank will get you a higher ranking in search engines. So if you want to get listed on Google or Yahoo, make sure you're on the top of the pile!
Have clear and precise information about your products. This is where most people go wrong. If they don't know exactly what they're selling, how can they be sure that people will buy it? Provide good, clear, and concise information about the product.
Make sure you're offering real value. It's OK to sell something that no one has ever heard of. What's the point in doing that? You need to convince the visitor that your product is worth the money they're going to spend. Provide good solid information about the product, and then point the customer in the direction to where they can find more information.
However, you also need to realize that there is so much more to content marketing than just writing up some articles. Sure, you have to do that first. But once you're able to create valuable content, the rest of this process becomes a lot easier. That's why you really need to understand it fully.
You know that you can give away free advice once you get your content out there. So you want people to know what you're doing better than everyone else. The only way to do that effectively is to create videos of your sessions and put them on video sites like YouTube and Vimeo.
Then, you have an opportunity to show off what you've learned in these videos to anybody that wants to learn more. This would be a great way to “wish that I would have known about content marketing” all over the Internet.
Finally, you have to understand the power of email marketing. It's not enough just to put up some content and hope that somebody will come by it and take notice. To be really successful online, you have to follow up with the people who have come to visit your site or contact you via email. You have to learn how to write effective emails so that you can convince even the toughest person that what you have to offer is the best information they will ever find. Wish that I would have known about email marketing all along!
There you go. I hope I've helped you understand a little bit more about what I wish people knew about content marketing. Hopefully you can use this information to help you create a great campaign for your website. Remember, the best campaigns don't come overnight, but with consistent effort and patience, you'll eventually see results.
